RAZZ STAR OF THE WEEK: Meet JM,Arguably The Best Gospel Musician Currently(VIDEO)

Ever since talented UK-based Ghanaian Gospel musician,Joseph Matthew better known as JM released his  hit song,’Nyame Ye’ ,he has won many hearts with regards to how he has broaden the spectrum of the Ghanaian gospel music scene with his style–a distinctive contemporary sound(a mixture of highlife, Afro beats, and Rap)

Born into a Christian musical family in Tema, JM quickly learnt to play various musical instruments from a tender age and sang in the church choir which was led and directed by his father.

He then went on to play in the church band where he had the opportunity to develop his skills further and realised his vocal gifts. In his early teenage years, JM had developed into a unique rapper, singer and songwriter who gained immense attention from many.

As a result, he has performed and worked alongside many artists from different genres including Hip-hop, RnB, Afro beats, reggae and gospel due to the versatility of his style.

JM caught attention and was featured in a local magazine in 2007 after a captivating performance at Stratford Rex London. In 2009, JM felt a profound call on his life back into gospel music and the church and has since been a key member of his church choir.

He is currently recording his long-awaited gospel album (Solid Rock) featuring the hit songs ‘Nyame Ye” and Hallelujah.

Crooned in a mid-tempo vein, JM eulogized God in ’Hallelujah’ for all the delectable things he has done for him.‘Hallelujah’ was recorded in Ghana by well-versed sound engineer, Francis Osei who is specialized in drumming.

Some entertainment pundits after listening to Hallelujah’ applauded JM’s musical prowess and argued further that he sings much better than most of the known Gospel musicians.

“Nyame Ye’, which literally means ‘God Is Good in Akan, also engineered by Osei in Ghana, is a song that talks about the essence of thanking God for overcoming obstacles and hard times.

The video which was shot in London and in Venezuela, was directed by internationally acclaimed music video director Martin Sean.

Martin Sean’s background in illustration and visual effects means his videos are full of incredibly subtle tricks and motifs, forcing your eyes into every inch of the screen just to make sure you’ve taken it all in.
